Originally built in the 4th Century BC, this stadium holds over 70,000 spectators. It was restored in 1895 and the site of the 2004 Olympics. This was the finish line of the Athens Marathon. The WHOLE thing is made of marble!
Hania was our favorite town on Crete. The Venetian Quarter is a well preserved section of town...like a time warp. These buildings all have nice cafes overlooking the harbour.
We went hiking into the moutains behind Delphi. This was at about 1,100 meter above sea level and 500 above Delphi. That si the Temple of Athena on the valley floor.
This is on the E5, a system of long trail systems through out Europe. This trail has a history though. This was a road the Ancient Greeks used to get from Ancient Delphi to other areas in the mountain and sanctuaries.
We ate at the Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe in Tommorrowland. Two young ladies told us that we had been chosen as the Family of the Day. They brought us to a table in front of 'Epock' and had free dessert. The kids loved it.
I am 50 and I have been rock climbing for about 20 years. I climb mostly moderate sport climbs. I do enjoy a bit of trad climbing. I would say one of my biggest interests in climbing is developing. There is tons of potential spots for climbing around St. John's and I like finding them and developing them with my climbing partners.
